Almost
50 years ago, C.W. Colt (54) won his first talent contest - interpreting Elvis.
Things have fundamentally changed since then and the way to his new album
Cowboys, Kings & Long Lost Treasures Vol. III was a long one.
He learnt his first guitar chords from the master himself, Chet Atkins and
C.W.'s experience in various bands made him to what he calls himself today:
Sir Coul William Colt, the Key Western Cowboy.
Unlike
most musicians, C.W. has a concept. The present album is # 3 of a planned
series of 12 Legends & Treasures. Most songs come uptempo and
are played following the good mood that Key West weather usually inspires.
You can hear the joy and fun that C.W. feels when he plays his music. One
of the favorites for me is Rundown Smokey Saloon.
But
there are also ballads. The intro to If I Had Her Picture reminds
me of times when the great Red Sovine told his melodic stories. After the
intro, the song turns into a ballad with remarkable lyrics. Another song representing
this genre is Before You Close Your Eyes.
No
wonder that some songs remind you of the other star of the Sun, Fun and
Beach category, Jimmy Buffett. Colt has worked with Buffett but unlike
the star, who markets his Margaritaville brand in all forms and shapes,
Colt is primarily obliged to one thing: His music. www.cwcolt.com or www.piratetreasures.com
