US Country Music

As a journalist, my first article series was about Canadian Country Music, published in 1991. Since then, I conducted about one hundred interviews with stars of country music, wrote dozens of portraits and reviewed countless CDs.

One of the regular publishers of my work is the Country Music Club of Switzerland, publishing the one and only monthly Country Music magazine in our country.

Another publisher is Germany's leading online news site for Country Music, which is maintained by the best picture-taking Grizzly Bear of Europe.

I am also frequently co-hosting Country Specials on Radio Munot and an internet radio station.

During recent years, my major focus was on singers and songwriters of Texas. These folks are not following commercial trends but keep playing their straight forward, honest country music. They deserve your attention just as much as the big Nashville acts.

We first got hooked on American Country Music back in 1976. Like many at that time, we were attracted by a concert which was performed in Zurich by the Man In Black, Johnny Cash.

There were many concerts of many artists to follow this initial event.

1989, I started my activities as a member of the Country Music Club of Switzerland. I was serving as Vice President (1991-1993) and as President (1993-1997). Today, me and my wife are honorary members and still involved in the club activities.

Since many years I am also a member of the CMA, the Country Music Association.

Tips for US Trips

To us traveling the US means getting to know people. It's not the destination that counts - it's the journey.

In the last decade, we traveled West to East, North to South, and clearly we spent a lot of time in Texas as we are in the process of opening a business there.

One focus we had during our travels was Route 66, The Mother Road. Unlike the standard tourist trips, which take some 2-3 weeks for the entire 2'448 mile stretch from Chicago to L.A., we took our time and spent some twelve weeks on the road. We talked to the people and learned about the history of the road and it's icons.

So if you plan to travel The Road, if you need tips on what to see or where to stay, we are glad to help you with information. Some of our tours you can find on this website.
